Things we love about elopements/minimonies

2020 changed the landscape of weddings as we know it. Thankfully, couples have found ways to be creative while still celebrating their love. I wanted to reflect on how some of those changes have been such positives. (Gotta find the silver lining, even when it feels next to impossible!) So here are some of my personal favorite things about elopements + minimonies that I hope are here to stay!

Personal eats + treats

What’s better than your own little dessert or favor to-go? Seriously, seeing all these mini pies, cupcakes, popcorn bags, and Memphis favorites in personalized bags has been such a joy! Not only is it a safer alternative, but it makes sure everyone gets a goodie!

Creative venues

From backyards to local parks, my couples have been getting so creative! There’s nothing like a venue that holds a special place in your heart, while also making sure your loved ones stay safe. Plus, more couples have included their pets in their big day since the venues are more pet-friendly, and I am ALL for that!

Unique styles + fashions

Casual but chic is one way to describe some of the recent wedding outfits I’ve seen! There are some adorable tea-length dresses, colorful dresses, and unique spins on typical wedding fashion. I am LOVING IT! Nothing wrong with being traditional. It’s just fun to see how these couples are playing around with their own personal styles!

Livestreaming + Skyping

For some people, having all of their loved ones present for the wedding isn’t always feasible. Now, so many newlyweds have been livestreaming, skyping, and facetiming to make sure no one misses out! What a fun way to make sure everyone gets to be a part of the wedding, even if they can’t travel. This is such an inclusive innovation, I hope it continues long past this year!

Unique wedding favors

From hand sanitizer, masks, and personal treats, there have been some clever ideas on keeping guests safe while sending them home with some goodies. If you were stuck on wedding favor ideas before, choose something both practical and personalized, like hand sanitizer labeled with your wedding date! I love that people are taking the health and safety of their loved ones into account, while also partying hard and celebrating the big day!

While these are just some of my favorite things, I know there are a ton of great, new ideas in weddings that I’m probably missing. That being said, I can’t wait to see what weddings of the future bring! I’m sure all my couples will continue being creative and crafty, while making sure their love takes center stage.
